Anyone can get rich. You don’t have to be a genius, and you don’t have to be lucky. People who build wealth make certain decisions and practice certain skills – none of which are difficult or complicated. You can do it, too.

By practicing these five simple ingredients you can build real wealth. Let’s take a look at each one.

Get to Work an Hour Early

You have to give yourself an edge over everyone else. The best way I know to do that is to get to work early. By getting to work early, you can do all the little things that put you ahead of the pack. You can make extra contacts, learn useful skills, take time to write an impressive memo, polish off a report, etc. There’s no better time to collect your thoughts and plan your day than early in the morning when the office is quiet. And if you do it right, it will be the most productive part of your day. Start it with your weekly to-do list. On a sheet of paper, jot down anything you need to get done. Make sure you give primary attention to your top goal that day, and get it done. Use your extra time to get at least one positive thing done before you start doing all the “regular” things. The “regular” things will give you a “regular” life. The extra things will give you all the extras – including the extra millions.

Develop and Perfect a Financially Valued Skill

To make more money than the person next to you, you have to be able to do something that is worth more money to someone else – your boss, your business, or your customers. Selling is a financially valued skill. So is producing profits. So is creating growth. Other skills – making things run smoothly, eliminating mistakes, balancing books, etc. – are certainly valuable to a business, but not as highly valued when it comes to dividing up the money pie.

What successful businesses mostly need – and value the most – are employees who stimulate sales, increase customer retention, boost customer spending, and bring in a bigger profit. The marketing jobs, sales jobs, and the merchandising jobs are the ones that most visibly contribute to the bottom line. You can add to the bottom line and become a financially valued employee or business owner by gradually developing sales, marketing, and profit-building skills. Study sales and marketing programs that are currently working. Learn from existing masters. Keep at it until you are confident you know how to create more wealth for your business.

Make an Above-Average Income

You don’t have to earn a ton of money to become a millionaire, but you do need a higher-than-average income. To get wealthy while you’re young enough to enjoy it, you need to make about $75,000 or more. If you are making less than $75,000 a year now, it’s almost certainly because you have not perfected a financially valued skill. Plying a financially valued skill toward a business you work for or a business you own (or both) will definitely produce wealth. Part of that wealth should go to you. If you’re an employee, ask for your share – ask for a raise, backed up by the results you’re producing.

Spend Less Than You Earn

It isn’t easy to make a lot of money, but it’s very, very easy to spend it. The book The Millionaire Next Door made and proved the point clearly: most millionaires become wealthy not by making a ton of money, but by saving and investing modest amounts over time. That’s precisely why I believe you can become wealthy when you earn as little as $75,000 a year. To make sure you spend less than you earn, use this powerful money-management trick. It’s something I began doing many years ago. It has allowed me to get richer in good times and bad, when my ideas were working and when they were not, when the economy boomed and when it stalled.

One day, I took out a sheet of paper and tallied up my net worth. Despite earning $50,000 more than I had the previous year, my net worth was less than $10,000. I made myself a simple promise. I said that from then on I’d recalculate my net worth once a month and that I’d do everything I possibly could to make sure that each month’s total would be larger than the month before. It was as easy as that. I decided simply to get richer one month at a time.

By calculating my net worth, I saw that many of my habits (including some of my spending habits) were financially unwise. It also gave me, at times, the energy I needed to do something drastic – to start something new or end something that had gone wrong. Plus, it gave me an underlying determination to get a little bit richer every day. Don’t dismiss this little technique because it’s simple. All the best and most powerful things in life are simple. This will make a difference. Do it.

Invest Wisely – Creating a Second Income

Investing wisely means doing two things:

1) Create a second, active income, and keep it growing.
2) Invest your passive income in a sensible, conservative fashion.

Start out slowly and learning about a side business while you have the safe and steady income of your main job. By a “side business”, I mean something you can run on weekends or weekday evenings that won’t take your attention away from your full-time job. It should be something you enjoy and are willing to stick with. Start with your financially valued skill. You are using that to create your first income, and now use it to create the second. Just stick with your strengths and you’ll succeed.

Investing Your Second Income

Finally, take the extra money you make from your main business and the extra money from your side business (by extra, I mean the money you can’t reinvest in that business because you simply don’t need it) and put it into an investing program that is reliable, safe and productive.

So here’s what you’ll do:

1) Set your alarm an hour earlier.
2) Identify the financially valued skill you are going to develop.
3) Commit to spending less than you earn.
4) Think about a second stream of income.
5) Start now – don’t wait a year or two and wish you’d started today.

It is hard to stay positive when the world around us continues to be negative. We meet negative people all the time. Do we allow their negativity to affect our attitude? How do we respond to their behaviour? But first of all, how do you know that these people are negative?

1) Their Words
Words tell us a lot of things. Once you open your mouth, you expose your thoughts and sub-conscious to everyone listening. There are words we unconsciously use often, that will be an indication of a person’s attitude to his surroundings and life in general.

a) Cannot
One of the key words you should be looking out for words in the negative sense such as “cannot” or “will not”. These people feel that there are lots of impossible tasks in these world. You will generally hear sentences like, ” I cannot do this!” or “I cannot do that!” often in their everyday language.

b) Excuses
Very often, these negative people will also find excuses to justify their negativity. “I cannot do this because …” They blame it on their age, their gender, their genes, and everything else they can blame their negativity on.

2) Their Behaviour
Besides words, a person’s behaviour can also determine whether a person is negative or positive.

a) How they Walk
A positive person will walk tall with lots of confidence while a negative person may slouch or very slowly, almost dragging their feet beneath them. A positive person generally walks quickly with a sense of purpose in this world, while the negative person will walk slowly without a care in this world.

b) Reactive
A negative person is reactive rather than proactive in their behaviour. He will be laid back while waiting for things to happen, as if money will fall from the sky or opportunities will fall on their lap. A positive person is more proactive in their behaviour and seek out opportunities around them all the time. These people tend to be the more successful ones in life.

Do take note of these things when talking to other people. It helps to identify the positive people from the negative ones. Spend more time with the positive ones and they will keep your spirits high, and stay away from the negative people as far as possible.

The best way to deal with negative people is to steer clear. Identify all those who make you feel down, and make you look at yourself in a bad light. Push them out of your life, sweep them away and you will feel lighter and happier, in body and mind. Many people have noticed that when they are around such negative people, how lethargic they feel.

They may feel tired, depressed and heavy, this is energy being sucked from them. This is something that you must deal with and, it is at this point that you must be hard, and sweep all negative people out of your life…or keep them as far away from yourself, and your family, as possible.

Negative people thrive on making you feel just as bad as they feel. They thrive on the attention and they hate the fact that others are happy in their lives while they are not. They blame everyone and everything for their ills and misfortunes. They never think, for one moment, that it is the negative energy they produce that is now coming back to them.

This is called, ‘Karma’. Any harm, in word or deed you do to another, so it will rebound back on you. So banish those who want to bring you down through their negative thoughts. Once you do you will begin to feel much lighter, happier, and you will feel as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders.

The sad fact is that about 95% all people who go online to become an Internet Marketer will fail in the end. And they not only fail but lose a lot of money in the process!

And all that happens despite the fact that the market is literally flooded with good ebooks, manuals, coaching, membership sites, (about list building, Google Adwords, traffic etc.) that were developed with only one goal in mind – to teach you the knowledge you need to become a successful marketer.

But YOU still struggle to make things work for you.

Right now you most probably belong to one of the following groups:

1. You bought numerous Internet Marketing products (or downloaded them in the member download forum ) and implemented all advice, tips and techniques in your own business. But no matter what you are doing you are just not achieving the good results you are hoping for. You have read all the testimonials and raving forum posts from other marketers who used the products with great success. But for you it’s just not happening.

2. You, too, bought every product out there. But instead of using them to start your own online business, you somehow never take any action towards actually building it. Yes, you have big dreams about it. Yes, you can imagine how thrilling it must be to live the Internet Lifestyle. Yes, you study and learn everything possible for hours a day. Yes, you know you should finally start – BUT you just don’t do it. Something is always
holding you back.

3. You have some success already. You might even earn a 4 or 5 figure income already. But your dreams are much bigger than that. The only thing is, you hit some kind of plateau and you just don’t get to the next level. You know you have the knowledge and determination but you are stuck with this level of income.

There is a reason for it, and no matter at which point you said, “Yes, that’s me,” it’s the same reason for everyone.

It’s the missing link for building the successful Internet business you are dreaming of.

Are you curious what the missing link is?

Let me start with telling you an eye-opening story ( I wrote and published this article years ago)…

“Don’t Act Like An Elephant!”

Strange statement, isn’t it?

But listen carefully because it can make the difference of success and failure in your business and private life.

So, let me explain…

You might know that in India elephants are used for manual labor. But what to do with them when they are not working? How to restrain them?

Their handlers came up with the idea to program them while they are still very young – by setting self-imposed limits into their thinking.

How does it work?

When the elephants are still small, weighing around 150 pounds, they get tied up with a very heavy rope.

All day long, the elephants try to get rid of it, whine, tug at it and some of them even try to chew it. But they can’t break free. Finally, the elephants give up and the fight is over.

And now it’s getting interesting…

From this moment on, they strongly believe that there is absolutely no chance to get rid of the rope. They accept the “fact” that the rope limits them.

And with this imprinted belief in place, their handlers are able to tie them with extremely small ropes!

And even as adults, weighing 8,000 pounds and more, they never attempt to break free because they “know” they have no chance at all!

As you can see, the elephants’ limits are not real, but exist only in their mind.

And so are we programmed with built-in-boundaries. They are also not real but exist only in our minds.

But with these imprinted belief systems, with these inner boundaries, we are unable…

- to live our lives to the fullest
- to be as successful as we could be
- to set and reach higher goals
- to make 10 times more money as we do now
- to build a successful business
- to get the promotion and pay increase
we always dreamed of
- to fulfill our true dreams and desires

The point is…

Your Inner Belief Systems Will Make Or Break Your Business!

Let me explain this with a simple ‘White Hat’ example…

Let’s say you are at a stage of your online business where you have built a list to a certain size. So far you didn’t promote anything but put your efforts into building a relationship with your list members first by providing great content.

But now you think you are ready to give it a shot. You heard about a great product and that marketers who promote this affiliate product achieve great results. For you it’s a no-brainer to go for it as well.

With your list size you expect ‘realistically’ at least 10-15 sales. You put great efforts in creating a convincing email about the product – you hit the
‘send’ button – and, instead of 10 or even more sales, you make only one.

Depending on your existing inner beliefs one of two things will be happening…

A. If you have any negative beliefs in regards of your business itself or your ability of running a business successfully, you’ll experience thoughts like, “I can’t understand why this is happening to me while everyone else and their dogs are doing great promoting this product; maybe I am simply not good enough to be successful as an Internet Marketer; maybe other marketers have better lists than I; I think the experts were right by telling me that my niche might be too competitive for a newbie to have a chance to make money.” And so on…

B. If your core beliefs regarding your business and your abilities in general are positive, you might have thoughts like, “I expected a little bit more, but hey, at least I made a sale at all; I am really grateful for it; I have accomplished something; I have to tell …(spouse) about my success; I can hardly wait for the next email campaign; I expect even better results next time.” And so on…

A week later there is another opportunity to endorse a good product.
If you were the first marketer (A), you don’t feel that enthusiastic anymore but worry a little about the outcome already, but you still create a rock solid email message – you hit the ‘send’ button – and there are no sales at all from your campaign.

Now you doubt yourself even more. Your feeling of being a failure is deepening. You now really believe that something is wrong with your list. You think you entered your market too late to make any significant profit, etc.

And the worst thing that is happening, you are strengthening your already existing negative belief system! And that will make sure that you’ll go the road leading to more and more disappointments and bad outcomes. And finally you’ll quit and will be convinced Internet Marketing is just not for
you.

A damaging belief, no matter if lying open in your mind or buried deeply inside, will always sabotage a possible positive outcome, no matter how hard you try!

If you were the second marketer (B), you feel great while crafting your endorsement email. You are relaxed and grateful for the chance to make some profit again.

You feel highly motivated, and you expect even better results this time – you hit the ‘send’ button – and (drum rolls, please ) you made 4 sales this time.

You feel even more grateful. Your feeling of accomplishment is deepening. Your self-confidence is rising. And, most importantly, you are strengthening your already existing positive belief that will support you in everything you are going to do from here on.

From this moment on you are on the road to success not only in email marketing but in all areas of your business. Your positive belief, your ability to feel grateful for even small victories (sales) and your positive expectation will get you more and more things, results and circumstances you can be grateful for.

Because it is so important to understand I want to repeat it one more time.

The chances for the first marketer are slim to none to make any significant profit with his/her business. The negative belief system that is controlling his or her life will always sabotage the chance for big, long lasting success.

Bottom line: your perception of yourself is the vital key to your success.It’s because of self-imposed limits. Your inner boundaries will always sabotage true, long-lasting success – no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try.

I have a friend who’s very skeptical about making money online, working online and getting money via Paypal. She has this mindset where in everything online is a scam. I’ve been encouraging her to get a Paypal account few years back but due to her skepticism, she procrastinates that she couldn’t get a Paypal account due to problems with her bank account. Lately she tried having an online job and since she’s still skeptical about it, she decided to use my Paypal account for her to be able to get her salary. But now she experienced having her very first online salary,she now felt the need of having her own Paypal account. The problem she has right now is when can she get her money..since the Paypal account is mine and not hers. You wouldn’t want to bother your friend everytime you’ve got some money coming up.

Well my friends, procrastinate no more! Here is the easiest way to get a Paypal account in the Philippines.

1 .Visit any branch of Union Bank and enquire the bank clerk to apply for EON Card. This is the easiest and inexpensive means of owning credit/debit card to be taken on in PayPal. It demands an yearly fee worth of Php 350.00 and does not ask initial depositary price.
2. You will have an e mail from Union Bank affirming that the card is now available.
3. Enroll the EON Card to the Union Bank on line banking. It will take 48 hrs to work this program.
4. You need to deposit at least Php 100.00 for the PayPal confirmation fee totalling to $ 1.95.
5. Later on, you can immediately enroll the Eon Card to PayPal.
6. As part of confirmation process, you need to assign the Expanded Use Number (EXPUSE).
7. After you have got received the EXPUSE number you can directly submit this to PayPal and get confirmed.

1. Stick to your Plan

I can’t tell you how important this is. If you did the work to create a workable plan like I suggested, just follow it!

For example, let’s say you decided that you would use article marketing to get free visitors for your site. Your plan was to write one new article every other day, so you could add a few new ones per week. You’d be surprised at how few people will actually stick to a plan like that. It’s a reasonable plan, and when you think about it, it’s not so hard to get it done. But most people give up after a month (not sure why that’s such a common time period,but it is).

Here’s a practical way to stick to your plan. There are two steps. The first step is deciding that you WILL
do it. I know that sounds insane, since your problem might be that you’re not doing it. But listen, you have to lay down the law for yourself. Tell yourself that your future depends on sticking to your plan. Then refuse to compromise on it.

The next step is to kill the one thing that gets you off track the most…”procrastination”. An easy way to kill procrastination is to figure out which time of the day you work best and schedule your work for that time. Get rid of the distractions and focus for the one, two or three hours a day that you need to keep yourself on track regarding your plan for the year. Procrastination is awful, because it sort of sneaks up on you. If you give in to it, you’ll find yourself letting time slip by without making any progress at all. That makes it easy to get discouraged,which just makes the problem worse. One time I can remember very well was just a couple years ago. I was so insanely busy that I was pretty much neglecting my plan one hundred percent of the time. The problem was, I had made too many commitments to friends and partners. I had promised to do promotions for them,help them on projects and do other things. It was crowding everything else out. By the time I got to “my” work for the day, I was so tired that I couldn’t get anything done. So I had to step back consciously and refocus myself. You might have to do the same. The good news is that once I did refocus,my progress took off.

And speaking of progress…

2. Make Progress Every Day

This is more a matter of discipline than anything else. Albert Einstein reportedly said that anything you study for 15 minutes a day for a year, you’ll be an expert on.

Well, believe it or not, most people won’t even put out that small amount of effort. Part of the problem is the procrastination I just mentioned. But the other part of the problem is not making a commitment to
putting DAILY effort into something. Look, I know you have a life. I’m glad you do! Business isn’t all there is to living. But I can also tell you that if you don’t make DAILY progress, you’ll probably find yourself off track very soon.

Honestly, I’m not sure why this is, but there’s just something magic about making progress toward a goal every single day. It doesn’t have to be huge progress. I don’t even think the size of the progress matters at all. All that matters is that you make a little bit every day.

I can remember back when I was just starting out. I had no experience, and I didn’t know what I was doing. That made it easy to be afraid all the time. That fear kept me from doing even the simple things I DID know I needed to do every day. The result was that I wasn’t making any progress, and I started to wallow in a bit of self-pity. Of course, that made the problem worse.

The single biggest thing I did to fix the problem was commit to spending at least 30 minutes a day on my business. Nothing fancy, just a simple commitment to make progress every single day. When I did that, I felt a TON better about myself, and the progress started to build up.

3. Expand Your Idea Network

This is a HUGE thing, and I have to admit I neglected it for years. Running your own online business can be a lonely thing. You’ll find yourself doing almost all of your work alone, and that tends to isolate you. That’s not healthy, but the more important thing to know is that it’ll kill your business over time. Instead, you always need to find ways to meet more people, read, and educate yourself. That keeps new ideas flowing into your head, which can take your business to levels you can’t even imagine.

The biggest thing you can do is meet more people who are also working online. You don’t have to be a champion networker (although that would help). All you have to do is keep expanding the set of people
you have contact with. For example, I’m having a meeting next week with a few very successful marketers
who live in my area. The purpose of our meeting is to get to know each other better, and to brainstorm
product ideas and partnership opportunities. It’s not a formal meeting at all, but I’ll almost guarantee we’ll come up with some fantastic ways to grow our businesses. For years I didn’t do that kind of thing. I sort of kept to myself, for privacy if nothing else. I was also really busy keeping up with my three daughters.

But I can say from experience that not expanding my contacts 1) Cut me off from meeting lots of great
people I can help, and who can help me and 2) Slowed down my progress towards getting where I am today.

There’s no reason you have to make the same mistake. Get out there and meet some people! If you’ll do that, and you’ll stick to your plan (don’t let other people pull you off into a ditch), and you’ll make progress every day, this year will be awesome for you.

All the ideas and brainstorming in the world can’t help you if you don’t take action and do something about them. In any process of creation your greatest enemy is always procrastination. If you ever wish to be someone who actually achieves something, rather than one of the many who had all the best ideas, your greatest skill will need to be fighting your own procrastinating mind.

It’s a tough battle, but somebody has got to do it. Since it’s your mind that’s creating all the trouble, you’re volunteered for this skirmish whether you like it or not. Procrastination, writers block, all sorts of other creative blocks, and just plain laziness, they all happen so regularly because, face it, you’re brilliant. You’re so brilliant, that your brain comes up with these perfect and logical excuses for not doing things all the time and you just can’t argue with brilliant and flawless logic.

Be thankful that the world and human life, doesn’t actually function on logic. No sir it doesn’t. Look at a newspaper, any newspaper, and you will see hundreds of examples of brute force winning out over logic, so would it be so wrong to channel some of this barbaric brute force in a positive manner for once and use it to fight all that flawless logic that’s holding you back from world domination? I think not. So here are some fights you need to pick to get going and do wonders:

   1. Fight mental inertia
2. Fight the fear of large tasks
3. Fight the clock
4. Fight the infinite research syndrome
5. Fight distractions
6. Fight the finishing fluster
7. Fight fatigue

1] Fight mental inertia

Take the first step, no matter how small.

Your procrastinating brain is like a frozen engine on a cold snowy morning. You might want to get going and get a head start on the day, but it has different plans. Starting problems are often the most difficult to deal with because you start with nothing and you expect to end up with something. That’s a scary thought, so your mind refuses to budge.

One of my favourite ways to deal with this is to destroy the “nothing” state of affairs as soon as possible. If I’m working on a new project, I will create a new folder on the computer for it, and maybe a special text file to hold my notes and musings on the topic. Or, I might just list out all the requirements or aims of the project in my trusty old-fashioned notebook. Viola! Suddenly, you’re not starting from nothing. While it might seem like no actual progress has been made, you’ll be surprised how much easier starting will now seem. Now you have a folder to fill or an outline in a notebook to follow and everything flows from there.

2] Fight the fear of large tasks

Break it down and make a todo list of small steps.

Another aspect that often holds you back is that almost anything of significance you want to do is never simple. Any project or piece of work has a whole bunch of sub-tasks that require to be done. Your mind might be brilliant, but it is also easily confused. Simply trying to itemize the various things to be done in your mind can put you off the whole thing, because you can only hold so many things in your head at any one moment, and you’re not quite sure what to focus on.

This is why human beings invented paper. The best solution to this problem is to break up any large undertaking into its constituent steps. Now break those down even further until you have a long list of very ordinary and easy tasks to accomplish. Start at the beginning and go down the list, and before you know it you will be making great strides towards the completion of what seemed like an impossibly gargantuan job.

3] Fight the clock

Introduce urgency – If you think you don’t have enough time, give yourself a 10 minute deadline.

There’s never enough time in the day. You have thoroughly convinced yourself of this fact. After all, you aren’t exactly sitting around wondering what to do. There is always something to hold your attention, whether fruitful or otherwise. In this milieu of activity, it’s quite natural to come to the conclusion that there’s not enough time to tackle that much delayed symphony you were composing, because you never have an hour or two at a stretch to exercise your creative muscle. I say that’s rubbish!

One trick that I have found to work wonders in this situation is to give yourself ridiculous time constraints. In other words, if you think you don’t have enough time, give yourself less! You think you can’t work on that short story now because you need to go out in another 20 minutes? Excellent! Now give yourself a 10-minute deadline for writing, write like a mad person, stop, spend the next 10 minutes getting ready, and go out. I guarantee that you will be surprised by how much you got done when you return and look at what you wrote. This sort of forced urgency always works for me, and you will find that some of your best work in any field can come out of this exercise.

4] Fight the infinite research syndrome

Take notes – Convert research into action by taking notes on paper.

My all time favourite internal logic for procrastination is when you convince yourself that you don’t know enough or have enough information to really get to work yet. So, you sit down to do some research instead. Aah!, the many days and months I have wasted doing research. I remember them fondly. Having the internet with its seemingly bottomless pit of information hasn’t really helped this situation any.

The problem with research is that it is often a passive activity. You sit there and click like there’s no tomorrow. A world of facts, data and images scroll past your eyes and you accomplish nothing. The way to fight this is to disconnect yourself a little from the mesmerising input. If you’re doing research on the internet, for example, make it an active process and get a little primitive. Keep some paper and a pen handy and don’t just save files, but take notes too. This makes research an active process. Taking notes and using more muscle than your mouse-finger forces you to think about what you are reading and make judgments. Also write down other impressions or notions that come to mind as you do this, and very often you will be excited to get away from this to implement some great idea that suddenly comes to you.

5] Fight distractions

Do something different – If you convince yourself that you need to sit down, lie down, or watch some TV at a crucial moment, go do something completely different.

At around the half-way mark of any project or task, it is common to feel like taking a nap. Unfortunately, these naps can often last several days, and your half-completed task becomes cold and insipid, and seems impossible to go back to after the break. This is that dreaded fork in the road where some people chose to carry on bravely and the others choose to abandon the journey. This one point in the progress of any task is the single reason why so many people have so many half-completed pet projects that haven’t been touched for months, years, or even decades.

My solution: laundry. Well, I don’t necessarily recommend that you all do laundry. I recognise that some of you are best kept away from delicates and whites for the sake of well groomed people everywhere. When you come to this point of tiredness during a task, resist the urge to sleep, watch TV, or resort to some other form of aimless relaxation. Instead, do something completely different. Do something that is still an activity but something that you can do without too much thought. Water your garden, feed the cat, do the dishes, whatever. I choose to do laundry, because there is always some part of the process that I can take on at any time on any given day — putting clothes into the washing machine, putting them out to dry, putting the dry clothes away and so on. This keeps you active, gives your brain a rest, and you still get the satisfaction of accomplishing something that needed to be done. Once that is done go back to your main task and you will be able to get back into it refreshed and enthusiastic again. And you’ll learn a whole lot more about fabric softener!

6] Fight the finishing fluster

Hold your pleasures for ransom – In the last stretch, hold your pleasures at ransom until you complete the task.

After the half-way stumble, the second and just as dangerous obstacle you can face is when you come to the very end of your chosen project or task. I’m sure most of you have had the urge, just before you finish something, to walk away from it for a breather. Don’t get me wrong, breathers are great, and necessary. But there are breathers, and breathers, and some of them can last forever. Here’s the other major reason there are so many incomplete pet projects out there. How many times have you heard yourself say, “It’s almost done, but it just requires some finishing touches?” How long have you been saying this?

Finishing something can become as much of an insurmountable challenge as starting it. The way I have found to get past this hurdle is one that I have heard mentioned by many others — a carrot on a stick. By the end of a long project wouldn’t you love to just sit back and watch that movie you’ve been waiting for for months? Well you can’t! Not until you actually finish anyway. Holding some personal pleasure for ransom until you finish a task works as a great motivator. It might seem brutal and unsavoury, but that evil genius you have inside your head doesn’t deserve anything less that ruthlessness sometimes, and you must be prepared to dish it out for the greater good.

7] Fight fatigue

Well deserved rewards – Once you have finished what you set out to do, give yourself a well deserved reward.

What could be left after the task is done? As a designer, I learnt very early on that in any design, the positive space (the shapes and objects you are designing) is only as important as the negative space (the blank white space that surrounds your design). The same holds true for the process of tackling a task. The time you spend off the project is just as important as the time you spend on the project, and this is especially true for the time right after completion.

Remember those pleasures you were forced to hold for ransom in the end game? Make sure you now indulge in them. Read a book, watch a movie, sky-dive, whatever it is you were looking forward to doing, do it. And while you’re doing that, keep your mind completely free of all thoughts about work, todo lists, and projects. This downtime is not only helpful but essential in resting your brilliant mind before the next battle. The rested and satisfied genius within can lead to all sorts of flashes of brilliance when you start on your next project. But a fatigued and disgruntled genius within becomes an even more stubborn procrastinator. You don’t really want to take on that sort of brutal competition do you? After all, you just can’t argue with brilliant and flawless logic, especially your own.

Nearly 2.6 million jobs were lost during 2008, the highest yearly total since the end of World War II in 1945. This week alone, major corporations have announced more than 80,000 job cuts, bringing this year’s total to well over 200,000.

Dr. Rosalind Dorlen is a clinical psychologist in Summit, New Jersey, an area she calls a “Wall Street ghetto” where formerly high-flying executives are out of work.

“Here, the people earn millions of dollars with bonuses that are astronomical,” said Dorlen, who is also the public education coordinator in New Jersey for the American Psychological Association. “There is a demoralizing aspect to having a huge salary and a huge bonus and then having to look for a job that is going to pay much, much less.”

She added, “What I’m hearing is a terrible sense of betrayal, anxiety and people experiencing lots of stress.” That, in turn, can lead to an increase in unhealthy coping behaviors, such as an uptick in alcohol consumption, unhealthy eating and worse sleeping habits.

Dorlen has several tips for people out of work:

• Don’t panic;

• Find a support group, even if it’s just an informal group of friends;

• Seek employment counseling when available;

• Be professional in your job hunt;

• Network with other professionals;

• Take time to exercise during hard times;

• Spend valuable time with your family.

On a practical note, she said people should contact their creditors to let them know the situation. She also advises people to do volunteer work and to cultivate a “spirit of optimism.”

“Bad times pass, and it’s sometimes hard to see that when you’re in the throes of a terrible place,” she said. “I think we do need to hold onto a spirit of optimism and a sense of confidence.”

“I think we’re getting mired in the gloom and doom, and we need to hold on to the fact that lots of people are working.”

CNN’s user-generated site, iReport.com, has been flooded with messages from people out of work. One woman held up her husband’s résumé and said, “Please, please, please take him off my hands.”

Yes Law Of Attraction is indeed BS if you’re looking at it in the magical abracadabra hocus-pocus perspective.

“The Secret” talks about “Ask, Believe, Receive”. Nowhere in that entire movie does it mention WORK.

If I sign up for a clickbank account, the universe isn’t going to magically make my earnings or hack into clickbank and give me sales. I actually have to DO the work.

I totally agree that the Law Of Attraction should be used as a motivational tool that changes the way you work and possibly even the outcome. But without that action, there’s nothing. Notice the word “action” in “Law of attraction”.

Saving means setting aside a certain amount of money each time you get paid. Say you got $5.00 a week and saved $3.00 of it each week. After a month you’d have $12.00, after two months you’d have $24.00, and after six months you’d have $72.00.

Sometimes there’s no getting around it –- you have to spend money on things that you need right away, like lunch, or socks, or a new tire for your bike. Other times you might spend money on something you really want, like an MP3 player or a GameBoy. In order to know when to spend and when to save, it helps to know the difference between needs and wants.

You’ve probably heard people say, “I have to have that pair of jeans” or “I need to see that movie.” Maybe you’ve even said those things yourself. But what does it mean? Will something horrible happen if you don’t have those jeans or need to see that movie? Probably not!

Needs are things that we truly can’t be without, such as:

    * Nutritious food
* A place to live
* A warm winter coat
* A good pair of shoes
* Transportation

Wants are things you’d like to have, but if you don’t, you’ll still survive (in fact, you’ll be just fine). Like:

    * Designer jeans
* Toys
* Candy
* Video games
* A snowboard

But there are times when wants become needs. For example, say you lived on the tip-top of a steep hill and needed to get to school, which was at the very bottom of the hill. Every winter, the snow makes it too difficult to drive, ride, or even walk down. But a snowboard would be the perfect mode of transportation for you to get to school, so the snowboard goes from being a want to being a need.

Figure out your needs and wants
When trying to figure out your own needs and wants, ask yourself the following questions:

    * What items do I need in order to get ready in the morning? Maybe a toothbrush, towel, shampoo, and/or a hairdryer?

    * How about my clothes? Do I need shoes, socks, pants, and a sweater?

    * How do I get to school? Do I need bus fare, a bike, a skateboard, or good walking shoes?

    * Are there things I need for school? Books? Backpack? Binders? Pencils?

    * How about things to help me study? Do I need a desk, chair, and/or a computer?

    * Do I have any sports or hobbies that need equipment? Like tennis rackets, cleats, riding gear, or scrapbooking supplies?

Other things to consider when trying to figure out a need vs. a want:

    * Will this item help me get ready faster? Maybe a new hairdryer that works better will help you to school on time. However, if it’s just that you have a green hairdryer and you like a new blue one better, that’s not going to speed up your morning routine.

    * I need a new sweater for winter, but is it necessary for me to have the designer version that costs $50.00 more than another brand -– even though both will keep me warm?

    * I need a bike to get to school, but do I need a mountain bike with 21 speeds and the best shocks?

    * I need a good backpack to keep my stuff in, but do I need the most expensive one?

Think about what things are necessary for your day-to-day existence. Write a list of them. Why do you feel these things are necessary? What things do you want? Write them down. Why do you want these things? Are any of your wants also needs?

Now that you have an idea of the things you need versus the things you want, it’s important to Set Money Goals so you can actually save and spend wisely.

As far as quitting your day job, I’d like to offer a formula that I’m sticking to and is one that I’ve picked up from other successful internet marketers…which is:

When you can make twice as much in your part time work-at-home business as you do in your full-time 9-to-5 job and do it by working less then 1/2 of the time you put in at your full-time 9-to-5 job over the course of 90 days, then and only then should you consider actually quitting the ‘day job’.

To your success! (haha guru style)
